997: Buddhism - Religion or Philosophy?

ZEN commuter, and meditation specifically, is not a religious practice. A mindfulness practice can be helpful to those who are religious, and to those who are not.  Accordingly, I want to make sure that the podcast is not leaning in any way to any specific denomination, so that all people will feel included.  The reason I bring this up though is because of Buddhism.  Many of its principles speak to the nature of meditation.  So, I either needed to change my policy about no religious leanings or determine another solution.  Luckily, I did.  I determined that Buddhism, to some, is not a religion, but a philosophy.  Let's hear why that is believed by listening to today's episode.

What you will learn in this episode:

  • The definition of religion
  • Why Buddhism is considered a philosophy
